Five City youngsters in Under 19 squad
Glasgow City have five players named in Scotland Under 19 Coach Shelley Kerr’s training camp in Edinburgh on 18th to 20th February.
Goalkeeper Lee Alexander receives another call up to the squad and is joined by newcomers Lisa Evans, Lauren McMurchie, Emma Mitchell and Eilish McSorley.
The news is a great boost to the City Girls squad, especially considering the four new girls are all still of age to represent Scotland at Under 17 level, with Mitchell and McSorley in particular, still eligible at Under 17 for another couple of years.
Girls Manager Richie Evans was delighted for his players. He said, “This is a huge boost for the whole team, not just the girls concerned. Lee has established herself in the Under 19 squad this entire season, but for the younger girls to also be considered is very pleasing indeed.
Emma and Eilish are still only 16 and 15 years old respectively, so it is a great honour for them to be given the chance to compete for a place in a national team age group well above their age ranking. Shelley Kerr’s squad is only a training camp, but nonetheless, it provides the girls with the opportunity to show what they can do and hopefully be considered for the team.”
