Eilish moves to Mallbacken

Glasgow City defender Eilish McSorley has moved to Swedish side Mallbacken.

The City number 5 has been with the club for the past 6.5 years, having joined not long after her 15th birthday. Since then she has gone on to be capped at full Scotland international level, as well as winning 7 League titles, 5 League Cups and 5 Scottish Cups.

Mallbacken recently won the Swedish second division to earn promotion to the Damallsvenskan, where they will compete for season 2015.

Commenting on the departure of Eilish, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “It is not a surprise to me that Eilish has decided to move as I know it has been an aim of hers for a few years now to follow the path a few of her team mates have taken. I suppose the only surprise is that she has decided to go now when the club have the biggest match in the history of the women's game in this country.

“However once again we can point to the development of a player who has been with us for many years. The working relationship has been beneficial to both the club and Eilish and we wish her very well with her career.”
