Eddie reflects on the achievement of Leanne Ross
Glasgow City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black took time out to reflect on the achievement of City midfielder and Vice Captain Leanne Ross, who started her 150th competitive game for the club yesterday against Spartans. In her time at Glasgow City, Leanne has scored 159 goals, won 6 League titles, 3 League Cups and 2 Scottish Cups so far.
He said, “Having worked with Leanne now for 6 years it’s fair to say I know the player pretty well. It is greattestamentto her dedication that she has now become the 7th all time appearance holder at the club. There is no doubt she will join the list of great players that have played here over the years and her name will sit comfortably alongside the likes of Laura Montgomery, Katharina Lindner and Leeanne Campbell as true legends of the club. I would only need one hand to count the amount of sessions she has missed for this club over the years.
“A closer look at the stats also reveals she has the most appearances this season having been the only player to have played a part in every single game. Only 2 players have started more games. For any player to play so much at this club and combine it with national team duty is remarkable, for a player in their thirties to do it, makes theachievementall the more incredible. Leanne continues to be a great source of inspiration to others at the club and is always willing to talk and help youth players.
“Her goalscoring record is astonishing, and she is without doubt one of the calmest finishers I have ever worked with. I am sure she will go on and add to her impressive tally and the club will continue to benefit from her contribution for a few more years yet.”
