Derby daze as City go to Celts

The Premier League Cup heats up this Sunday as we enter the quarter final stages and with Celtic taking on Glasgow City, it looks as though we will be guaranteed another big Glasgow derby.

Billed as the tie of the round, Celtic will be desperate to avenge their recent 4-1 league defeat to City and prove they are a force to be reckoned with this season. City meanwhile are well aware from previous experiences that they will need to be at their best in a one game knock out competition.

City Vice Captain Leanne Campbell said, “We were knocked out of this competition last season very early on. We did not perform well on the day and in the end were knocked out on penalties. That disappointment is still very fresh amongst the players and we will be determined not to drop our standards this weekend. We have been playing well and scoring a lot of goals recently, but Celtic are a team full of talented players, so we will be taking nothing for granted come Sunday.”

The match is being moved from the usual 2pm slot on Sunday to a 4pm kick off at Barrowfield. The move helps to accommodate Celtic TV and it is hoped that yet another big crowd will attend what should be a very entertaining match.

With holders Edinburgh already out of the competition, the big favourite, outwith City, is Hibernian and they should progress comfortably into the next round following their tie against newly promoted Vale of Clyde.

Full Quarter Final Draw: Celtic v Glasgow City, Queens Park v Newburgh, Vale of
