Denise O'Sullivan SWPL Players' Player of the Year
Glasgow City are delighted to announce that midfielder Denise O’Sullivan has won the SWPL Players’ Player of the Year.
The award which takes a vote from all SWPL players comes off the back of a remarkable season for Denise and Glasgow City which saw the 20 year old Republic of Ireland international lift the domestic treble and be part of the first Scottish team to ever reach the quarter finals of the Champions League.
A delighted Denise said, “First of all I would like to thank all players in the SWPL for voting me as Players’ Player the Year.
“I am absolutely delighted to receive this award and it is a great honour for me. I would not have however have got this award without the massive help of my team mates, coaches and everyone behind the scenes at Glasgow City. It is a great club and it has helped me improve in many ways.”
Commenting on the award for Denise, City Club Manager, Laura Montgomery said, “We are thrilled Denise has won Players' Player of the Year for the SWPL. As we all know there is no greater honour than being rewarded by your peers and it rounds off a fantastic season for her and us as a club. She has already lifted our own club Coaches Player, Fans Player and Players' Player of the Year award so to now win her fourth personal honour I think shows just how much she has improved as a player this season and made an impact for us not just in the SWPL but also at the highest level in the Champions League.
“We have been very fortunate over the years to have a number of goalscoring midfielders at Glasgow City and Denise has scored a number of crucial goals for us this year. However, it is not just her goalscoring ability, but her commitment, work rate and talent in being able to change a game, is what has set her apart this season. As everyone knows, Denise was our club's first venture into the professional football and it has proved to have been a very wise choice indeed.”
