DJO Global to the Rescue

Now that the season has reached a conclusion, we would like to take time to thank DJO Global and in particular Account Manager Chris Downton who made what seemed an impossible situation possible when on loan midfielder Jess Fishlock broke her wrist.

Most Glasgow City fans were watching Jess Captain Wales against England in their crucial World Cup qualifier on the 26th October and looked on in despair as she broke her wrist during the match. Glasgow City had some of the most important of the games of the season still to come, with two last 16 Champions League games versus Arsenal and a Scottish Cup final amongst some of the most vital over the coming weeks.

After the match, Jess was put in a cast with medical review that it could not be removed for at least 6/8 weeks. The media quickly announced that Jess would not be fit for the Champions League matches and was now a big doubt for Wales next qualifier against Montengro.

This is where Chris and DJO Global stepped in.  Experts in medical devices and services, Glasgow City approached Chris to see what he could do and they came up with the answer. Chris suggested their Exos short arm fracture brace, which is the ONLY bracing system offering a removable, adjustable , reformable and waterproof solution for treatment of fractures and other injuries requiring stabilisation. The beauty of this product was that Jess would be able to continue to use this brace to protect her wrist whilst training and playing over the next few months.

On the Eve of our away leg in London against Arsenal, Chris met ourselves, Jess and the UEFA officials and the referee approved the brace for competition use. To add icing to the cake, Jess felt the Exos brace was far more comfortable and offered greater stability than her existing cast.

On behalf of Glasgow City FC and Jess Fishlock, we would like to thank Chris Downton and DJO Global.
