City's young Scots on the mark

Scotland Under 17’s are currently joint top of Group 8 in the First Qualifying Round of the Under 17 European Championship after two games, courtesy of the fire power of three Glasgow City youngsters.

City have five players away with the Under 17 national squad in Belarus and all have played a part in their country’s first two matches. On Saturday, Scotland defeated Israel, with City’s Lauren McMurchie bagging one goal, with City and Scotland Captain Emma Mitchell scoring another two, overall helping their country to a 5-0 win.

Yesterday Scotland maintained their 100% record with a 1-0 win over Belarus, with the winning strike coming from City and Scotland centre-half Eilish McSorley.

Scotland now face a tough last game against Switzerland who sit joint top of Group 8 with the Scots. Only the group winners are guaranteed progression to the Second Round Qualification stage next year, however, the six best second placed teams will also make it to the last 16.
