City storm into the next round of the Cup

Glasgow City found the path to the next round of the Unite Scottish Cup very comfortable as they hit 14 past Cowdenbeath in the second round today.

International starts Leanne Ross and Christie Murray both scored hat-tricks, but most pleasing for City was the return to action of Suzanne Malone after more than a year out injured. Malone proved that despite her absence she has not lost sight of the where the goal is as she also hit the back of the net, coming off the subs bench.

Also getting on the scoresheet were for City were Danica Dalziel, Rachel Corsie, Ciara Barnes, Emma Woolley, Lisa Evans and a double from Jane Ross.

Commenting on the victory, Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “It was great to get a good 90 minutes under our belt and we are now into the hat for the next round. I was really pleased with how we passed the ball today and we got a number of players with important time on the pitch.”
