City stay top after defeating Hamilton Accies 7-0
Glasgow City maintained their 100% record this season with a 7-0 win over Hamilton Accies tonight at Petershill Park.
Having shot out of the blocks early in recent matches, City showed their sharpness once again as they opened the scoring after only 3 minutes. Captain 
Rachel Corsie, hit a precision pass over the Hamilton defence and into the path of the well timed run of midfielder Leanne Ross. Faced one on one with Megan Cunningham in the Hamilton nets, Ross coolly slotted past the keeper into the bottom corner.
On the 18th minute, the same combination did it again. This time Corsie hit a diagonal pass from the left on to the run of Ross, who collected the ball just inside the box and chipped it over the outrushing Cunningham.
Only two minutes later, defence and midfield showed the way to goal again as Hamilton were caught out by their high line once more. From out on the right, Eilish McSorley chipped the ball over the back four and on to midfielder Jo Love’s run beyond the strikers. Love controlled and shot past Cunningham into the bottom right hand corner, to make it 3-0 to the home side.

10 minutes after the interval and City struck again. Some good link up play with the front three in the end resulted in Lisa Evans playing in full back Danica Dalziel. The defender hit a cross come shot, which fired its way into top left hand corner.
If luck had a part to play in the last goal, City’s fifth was nothing but sheer brilliance. Dalziel combined well with Leanne Ross after a throw in and Ross released Emma Mitchell on the corner of the 18 yard box. The striker then unleashed a thunderbolt into the opposite top corner for the goal of the game so far.
Just when the crowd thought the last goal could not be bettered, Mitchell did it again. Substitute Ciara Barnes picked up a loose ball half way into the Hamilton half, beat a defender and then found Mitchell out on the far right, where she cracked another effort into the top corner from the far side of the box.
With only two minutes of normal time remaining, Leanne Ross secured her hat-trick and in turn made it 7-0 to City. The Accies defence headed a City attack away, but only as far as Ross who was 30 yards from goal. The City and Scotland midfielder then hit a drive low and hard into the bottom corner to rival Mitchell’s previous two classy strikes.
Delighted with his team once more, Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “To finish off the first half of the campaign in terms of our home games with a win and another clean sheet was brilliant. The quality of the goals was also excellent. We had to work hard for it as Hamilton changed their tactics a few times, so we had to come up with solutions on every occasion and I was delighted with how the team coped with that.”
City will now travel to take on Muireston United in the second round of the Henson Projects Scottish Cup on Sunday.
