City's Head of Youth awarded Best Volunteer in Girls'/Women's Football

We are very pleased to announce that Glasgow City’s Head of Youth, Amy McDonald has been awarded the Best Volunteer in Girls' and Women’s Footballfor the Scottish FA West Region.

Former Scottish international and City first team player, Amy was forced to hang up her playing boots after injury two years ago and since then has been Head of Youth for Scotland’s most successful women’s football club, Glasgow City.

Under Amy’s guidance, City’s youth programme has grown from strength to strength with more teams and more girls playing than ever before. City’s youth structure is proud to have outstanding and highly qualified coaches at all age groups and this combined with a distinct football and coaching philosophy has seen the club become one of the best Youth Academies in only a handful of years, highlighted by City having a team in every possible age group League Cup Final earlier this season.

Commenting on Amy’s award, City Club Manager Laura Montgomery said, “Everyone within our club knows how fantastic Amy is at her role and we are very proud that she has now been officially recognised outwith for her incredible contribution to the girls game.”
