City are Club of the Month for June
Glasgow City are delighted to announce that they were awarded the Sports Council for Glasgow Club of the Month for June 2011.
Receiving the award a few days ago, the Sports Council announced why City had won their prestigious award for June.
‘Whilst being Scottish Champions for a record breaking 4 seasons running, Glasgow City are showing no signs of letting loose their grip on the domestic game as in the space of four weeks they have played the top teams in the League and defeated them convincingly. City, sitting top of the League took on the fourth place side at the time Spartans, defeating them 5-1 on 22nd May. A week later they faced second placed Hibernian, who like City, going into the match were on maximum League points. City soon ended the run of Hibs but continued their own as they trounced the Hibees 8-0. On the 5th June they then defeated third placed Celtic 5-0. Glasgow City remain with a 100% League record and have scored 61 goals in 9 League matches and have conceded only 2.Excellent preparation for the side who will represent Scotland in the UEFA Women's Champions League in August.’
