City stars help Scotland to victory
City First team regulars Megan Sneddon, Rachel Corsie and Leanne Ross all started tonight for Scotland in their 3-1 friendly win over Northern Ireland at Forthbank Stadium, Stirling.
Versatile player Ross, normally deployed in midfield or even attack for the Premier League holders, started at full back for Scotland, a position she has played on a number of occasions for the national side. Sneddon started in her usual central midfield berth and Corsie at centre-half. City keeper Laura Williamson was an unused substitute.
Tonight’s victory came courtesy of two goals from Pauline Hamill and a strike from Joelle Murray and will have been a much needed confidence boost for the national team after their disappointing performance against Italy in a friendly a month ago.
City’s international players will of course be back at Forthbank in less than a week for City’s Scottish Cup Final against Rangers on Sunday. Kick off 2.15pm.
