City Reserves ease into next round

Glasgow City Reserves travelled to Edinburgh today and eased themselves into the next round of the Scottish Cup with a very comfortable 21-0 victory over Spartans C.

As the scoreline suggests, City totally controlled the match. Laura Crossan opened the scoring and went on to get a hat-trick within the space of three minutes before having to go off injured to be replaced by Sarah Major on the 20 minute mark. Lisa Hendry got six of City’s goals, one in the first half and five in the second, with Laura Crossan, Fiona Woods and Linda O’Donnell also getting hat-tricks.  Louise Thomson was on target twice for the visitors and centre half Ciara Barnes found the net with four minutes remaining.

Reserves Boss, Fiona Baker commented, “Today was obviously a good performance by our girls against a very young Spartans side, who will have no doubt learned a few things from the match. As the scoreline increased our main aim was to ensure we still did the right things and played to our game plan and I am delighted to say the girls did exactly what was asked of them. It was nice to win so comfortably, but if I am honest, no-one likes results like this as it does nothing for the development of the game.“
