Cheryl Gallagher becomes City's third signing

Champions Glasgow City have secured their third signing of the close season with the announcement of the arrival of Cheryl Gallagher.

The 21 year old striker is a business student and joins from Rangers.

Commenting on his decision to make Gallagher his next signing, City Head Coach, Eddie Wolecki Black said, “Cheryl first came to my notice last season, I had gone along to a Rangers game to watch another player and as so often happens another player stands out, this time it was Cheryl. Her vision and awareness were very evident as well as a good turn of pace. She showed great strength and finished off an attack very well. When I see a player fulfil so many of the criteria we look for at this club in one game then there is no doubt that player becomes a priority to sign.

“It is true Cheryl had other opportunities and of course she took her time before making her decision. We are delighted she has chosen to join us and I believe she will prove to be an excellent addition to our squad. Upon meeting her I found her to be an ambitious girl with a desire to improve, and with an attitude like that she will do well here.

“I would like to wish Cheryl the very best of luck and personally I am looking forward to the pre-season and watching not only Cheryl but also our other new signings and see how they integrate with the talented players we already have at the club.”

On leaving Rangers and joining City, the former Under 19 Scotland cap said, “First and foremost I'd like to take the opportunity to thank my previous club Rangers for everything they have done for me and for their influence in my development over the last 4 years. I wish them all the best and I'm sure it's onwards and upwards for the forthcoming season.

“I'd also like to thank Glasgow City for giving me this opportunity to play for the club. I'm really happy to have signed with a club who have achieved so much success over the years and that is something I look to contribute to.

“I'm really looking forward to getting involved with such a talented group of players which is only going to help me improve and I can't wait to get started.”
