Amy heads to Nyon for Champions League draw

Glasgow City's Head of Youth Development, Amy McDonald, heads to Nyon in Switzerland tomorrow to the UEFA Head Quarters to represent Glasgow City in the draw for the round of the last 32 in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Glasgow City topped Group 8 in the first round held only last week and so proudly progress into the knock-out stages. Under UEFA rules, City will be drawn against one of the seeded top 16 sides. After the draw for the round of 32, UEFA will also draw the round of the last 16.

As an unseeded team, City will be at home at Petershill for the first leg on either 26th or 27th September and will visit their seeded team opposition on either the 3rd or 4th of October. No side can meet a team from their own association – so Birmingham will not face Arsenal and Stabæk Fotball cannot come up against Norwegian rivals Røa Fotball Elite for example.

The round of 16 will be played on 31 October/1 November and 7/8 November and in the draw, also held on Thursday, 16 balls containing slips of paper reading 'winner of match 1' to 'winner of match 16' will be drawn, with no country protection or seeding. The draws will be conducted by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and UEFA Head of Women's and Futsal Competitions Mikael Salzer.
