Amy and Craig accepted on to UEFA B Licence
Glasgow City Head of Youth Amy McDonald and Youth Lead Coach Craig Joyce have both been accepted on to this coming year’s UEFA B Licence Coaching course.
The B Licence is the sixth qualification in the national coaching pathway and is widely sought after with only a minimum number of candidates accepted each year by the Scottish FA.
On the B Licence, coaches gain detailed coaching knowledge based on functional practices, small sided games and phases of play to enhance game related understanding. This knowledge aids the evaluation of player and team performance and set goals accordingly. Coaches also learn how to further analyse matches, assess fitness, provide a psychological evaluation of players and build on nutritional awareness.
Commenting on Amy and Craig’s inclusion onto the Licence, Club Manager Laura Montgomery said, “Club coaches Donald Jennow, Barry Rodgers and Laura Williamson were all accepted on to the B Licence course this year and it is terrific news for the club and the coaches themselves that Amy and Craig are earmarked for next year’s course. We are very strongly committed to player development at Glasgow City and that runs completely parallel to our commitment to our coach development. We have big plans for our Youth Performance Academy as we look to improve on the strides we have made in recent years. The fact that Amy and Craig will hopefully achieve their B Licence within the coming 12 months is a further boost to our investment plans and our players will only benefit from the greater knowledge and experience our coaches develop themselves.”
